I don't think I can remember the last time I went back to my kampung in Kedah. I remembered when I was little, my cousins and I always make time to have a splash in the river. Conveniently, it was just opposite my grandma's house and with the cool breeze at night, no such thing as a bad sleep! Visiting Alang Manja definitely reminded me of those memories.

We went for a day trip there and I seriously wish I could have experienced a night or two at Alang Manja. Definitely worth a visit if you need to get away from the chaotic city life. Hiking in the morning, some fun in the river in the afternoon, tea in the evening, barbeque and karaoke at night! Do I really need to write down a long list of things you can do here?

WINTER DELIGHT

I had my brief winter holiday in Istanbul with 49 other visitors including my parents. Thought it would be just windy but oh my, I forgot how cold it could be. Freezing but thank goodness no rain was brought upon us to spoil our days there. We explored the city of Istanbul for a week and I fell in love with the city on my very first day. Honest.

It is so beautiful. Of course, like any tourist's itinerary, I went to visit all the must-sees and I do believe they are all a must! The mosques and the view especially. So detailed in their architecture and just a lot of history. I loved it!

I got to see the stick of Prophet Moses and the beard of Prophet Muhammad. On my last day, we went the see a ceremony called Whirling Dervishes. If you have no idea what it is, here's a pic!

Indescribable. I love Istanbul so much I asked from our professional tourist guide about work visa. Yes! No kid.

I've graduated! Three years of hard core studying and pulling my hair out is finally over. No more course works, no more dissertation and no more group works, YES! The only thing I'll miss is ma girls and the award ceremony was definitely the perfect way to bring all of us together one final time.

We had our ceremony at the Bridgewater Hall and thank god the weather was on our side that day. Here are some photos from my graduation ceremony! So glad everyone that matters came to support me especially mami and papa! A definite proud moment if I have to say so myself! Enjoy the photos sweethearts.

Decided to go for a traditional ensemble that day. What a better way to show the rest where you came from, being proud of who you are and that you made it!

I have no idea why my influences and inspirations are coming from younger people nowadays. Guess you can't deny that great things do come in small packages. Another great example is Chloe Moretz. Under the radar, but this 14 year old Kick Ass starlet shows great style with such individuality.

I think her best looks were when she had the 60's mod hair. She went with the combination of mod and indie look, which suits her very well. Photos down below are mostly from her photo shoots but do check her red carpet looks, this girl is a fashion icon in my book already! Love!

HERE COMES THE SUN

Hello dearies, hope you guys have been reading previous posts regarding a break from Devotee, due to my finals. Other then exams and a vacation with family, I've been busy sorting out my room. It's been 3 years since I've actually really make my room mine. Since I'm officially back for good, it feels appropriate to start new and fresh...and what a better colour to signify that than yellow. To be exact, mustard.

I also had to take out stuff I don't need, stuff I want to give away and stuff I want to keep which actually took longer that the painting process. Photos down below, enjoy!

Walls are still bare because there are so many photos that I haven't had the chance to print them out yet.

My previous pink and black walls were painted by my cousin, who passed away years ago. It took me a whole year to decide on painting them again because I feel like if I do I'm going to forget that particular memory. So instead, I framed a picture of him and I as a dedication.

Pictures are great, aren't they? They show you who you are and where you come from and remind you the good times when your memories are beginning to slip away.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Yes, I know. Talk about promising to update you dear devotees on my placement issues. Well, truth be told I hardly had any time to blog about it. Lucky you, I managed to squeeze some time to do it. So, here's the lowdown. After countless of rejections, I went back home to Kuala Lumpur, trying to... well get over the fact that I wasn't their choice. But, I thought why not scout for some 3 months internship here? Surprise. The university won't approve any internships that are 6 months less. But what the heck.

I sent my CV to Harpers Bazaar magazine, went for the interview and got the green light by the afternoon. Finally, someone wants me! (clearly you can tell how happy I am that my ever growing sense of desperation is over)

My post: Fashion intern

My role: write snippets, key in articles, loan clothes, manage product shoots, email fashion companies requesting prices and others.

Sounds exciting? Yeah it is, at first. But it gets to a routine and because I was only there for a short period of time, I didn't get a chance to do any other stuff that I might be good at. Not that I'm complaining, I had a chance to do so many awesome things and meet great people from fashion retailers and the industry . Go through my pictures below!

There's Leong, the photographer. This was a product shoot at the studio. I do this once or twice a week.

Can you imagine all the clothes I had to carry from the stores and fashion offices? Crazy.

I never thought this is how they shot clothes that you see in the magazines. It seems complicated but to hell easy. Get a heavy box and have a plank lean on it.

This was the view from my balcony at Port Dickson, a holiday destination here in Malaysia. They drove us here for an editorial shoot with the celebrities for the Pink Project (Breast Cancer Awareness) !

Spoiled. We got to stay here in these cute little chalets.

The clothes for the shoot. No, there were more trust me. It's just not in the picture. We spent the whole night coordinating the clothes to the appropriate person. Discussing which looks best, hair and make up with the fashion stylist, Kenneth Goh.

I mainly took this shot because I love Nicole Richie and House of Harlow. LOVE

A great way to start the summer fever, bbq at the park! It was definitely a fun filled day with guitar playing, charades, photo booth session and food, of course! It was also a get together before everyone leaves for their eurotrip and such, so it was great that everyone I love was there.

I find it's hard to keep in touch with your school friends and harder to accept the fact as everyone grew further apart, they can also change. But, the thing bout me is, I find it is always best to have a few great friends than to have a lot of them who are not your true friends and would not be the one by your side when you need them. I truly appreciate this bunch! =)

Not only it was a great start for the holidays, it was also a great end to my second year in uni. All those late nights or even better sleepless nights are finally done. No more group works, tight deadlines and early mornings! *Give me a cyber Hi-5 peeps*

Now the only thing I have left to stress about....placement year! Bummer. Will definitely update you on that! Stay tuned! Tee hee.

CLOTHES HAUL 5 + OUFIT OF THE DAY

So exams is in 4 days, having sleepless night, stress zits and panda eyes, I just had to get out of my room and go out. I've been craving for sushi and my friends and I went to Wasabi and had bubble tea afterwards. Definitely, a stress relief! It's finally sunny now so I just had on a really casual outfit with just simple accessories. Nothing too fancy at all.

I bought this salmon sequined jumper at Afflecks. LOVE this place! It's like my second home, they sell really unique clothes, some of them are handmade and you know how I am really into handmade stuff and supportive of people who are into this as well. Anyway, it is £22 and I pair it with a black stir up legging from Miss Selfridge. To just add shape, I used a vintage skinny belt on the waist.

My parents came to visit me during Easter and I just bought some few stuff I've been wanting for a very long time :

1. American Apparel Nylon Tricot High-Waist Skirt RRP£32. Bought:£13!

Yes thirteen! American Apparel had a sale that day and I was really surprised because they never have any kind of sale despite being expensive. I love American Apparel and I'm glad I bought this. Their clothes are always so versatile and this piece can be worn in so many ways.

2. Miss Selfridge Faded Blue Super Skinny Jeans RRP£35

All jeans that I have are mostly the same shade of colour, so I decided since it's summer soon, might want to grab a lighter shade. It's hard for me to find jeans that just fits me right but I think so far jeans from Miss Selfridge are perfect for my body type.

3. Primark Flower Top RRP£8

I've been wanting to get Superdry's sleeveless tops for soo long but this reminds me so much of them, I had to get it! Plus, it's waaay cheaper! No need to argue here. It's really pretty, might pop in back for more.

4. Urban Outfitters Body Con Skirt RRP:£22

With student discount of course. It's available in navy blue, green, grey and black. This green is so flattering and I've been loving this. Been wearing it with so many different tops .It's stretchable and it honestly flatters the bum.

5. Afflecks Sequined Top RRP:£8

I bought this at a vintage store in Afflecks. I was going through the messy rail of clothes trying to find a sequined cardigan, but I spotted this instead and fell in love with it! It's an oversized top with sequined shoulder pads and sequined button details at the sleeves. Bargain!

6. Lastly, shoes! L - R, Converse £45, Primark Jade Sandals £8, Primark Studded Sandals £8 and Prague Lace Up Boots £15

I think her sense of fashion has definitely blossomed these few months. What caught my attention was her street fashion when she was promoting her music in the US. She looked awesome! BABY STEPS MILLIE, BABY STEPS

Twenty but still taking one baby step at a time. I'm halfway through university and time sure has gone by quickly but now it's that time of the year where you feel stuck not knowing which path to go to, for me that is. I've enrolled myself to a 4 year sandwich course, to those who are not sure by what this means, basically during my 3rd year, I'll be working hard on my placement or internship.

Since last November, I've been applying to thousands (exaggerating much) of placement ads that was given through uni's placement office as well as sourcing my own placement. I want to get a placement so bad but the process wasn't as easy as applying for it. Over the past few months, checking my emails everyday took a lil life out of me each time. Yes, I'm all 'My Chemical Romance' about this.

You just got an email from xxx:

Sorry but you have not been successful.

Rejections. Breaks my heart. Feeling like I'm moving backwards more than I'm moving forward. I gave up, well almost. I couldn't care less about applying anymore with more uni work piling up, I was stressed out of my mind. However, there was one email I have not receive any feedback on. To my surprise :

Boo-yah. I honestly jumped up and down on my bed while delivering the good news to my boyfriend. To cut this blog post short, I went to Cardiff for the interview. It was just 4 of us, 3 of my classmates and I. One of them actually have worked with this company for 5 years. Go figure? The interview went blah, . Thinking back, I didn't do my best preparation for it either.

Thank god for my boyfie. He cheered me up, bringing me everywhere in Cardiff, taking my mind off the horrible morning I went through. Until now, I have not received any calls or emails from them, must face the fact I've been once again rejected. But, mami and papa told me to keep on applying and because I love them so truly much, I've been consistently applying for placements again.

Now all I have to do is wait.....................

Olivia Palermo is the only reason I kept watching 'The City'. STUNNING. I looove her in 'The City'. She might be portrayed as the enemy in the show but she is just too polite and sweet to be mean in real life. Love the hair, make up and clothes. If I could sum up her personal style, pairing up any glamourous outfit with an oversized blazer or jacket.

Something you might not know about Devotee is that I've been doing videos for wedding celebrations for quite some time now. I really enjoy picking out their photos, editing, choosing and adding music, effects and such. This is really just a hobby but people seem to like it! So, that's good. The feature on Nona January 010 Issue is on my sister's wedding; Devotee and my mom's " Jari Jemaris " ( hantaran company ) is in there too!

By the way, even though my sister was basically my client, her wedding video was not for free ya know.Haha. OUTFIT OF THE DAY

We bought tickets to see Taylor Swift with my friends. Love: Taylor's amazing voice that sounds as good as on TV without lip-sync. Love: Great visuals including videos from Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato ( big production tbh ) Love: Her being in the crowd hugging, taking pictures and signing autographs for almost 15 mins! Love: the fact that she sang all my favourite songs from her!

Boo : Souvenirs! Cheap and had her full frontal face printed on the shirts. True, that most of her fans are kids and it might be a hit with them. However, a decent poster wasn't even included in the merchandise!

At least I have photos as memories!

Outfit of the day

There was a birthday celebration I had to go to at Pavillion. A simple yet fun celebration, some good old friends, bowling games and dinner. I don't know why, but since I've been learning Mandarin, I've been really inspired by Asian fashion. The Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese sense of fashion. The way they always tie their hair up in a bun, pair up their cute cardigans with cute skirts and shorts.

I took inspiration from oversized cardigans, add waist for shape and simple accessorizing.
